The Right Umbrella for the Right Shade
1. Choose patio umbrellas that fit the space. For patio umbrellas
placed over a table, make sure that when the umbrella is open, it's
larger in diameter than the table below it.
2. Patio umbrellas with taller poles will cast a larger area of
shade. Poles can be inserted in the center of a table or stand alone.
An offset patio umbrella is also an option.
3. Be sure the base is large enough for your patio umbrella and the
fittings match the pole. You don't want your new patio umbrella falling
over with too small or too light a base, or one that does not fit
completely.
4. Double canopy patio umbrellas offer more stability in winds, and also keep you cooler as they don't trap heat.
5. Lighter-colored patio umbrellas will also help reflect the sun.
